Baghdad (news) .. A source close to Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki welcomed al-Maliki in particular and the Iraqi government in general appoint Saudi Arabia as an ambassador in Iraq, after a lapse of more than 20 years.
The source (of the Agency news) said on Tuesday: Saudi Arabia's decision to appoint an ambassador in Baghdad, received a great welcome from the government and the Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, in particular, which is the beginning of the decision to break the ice between Baghdad and Riyadh.
The source added: that the government is the decision to appoint Saudi Arabia travel in Iraq a good sign, to open a new page of relations bin the two countries, noting that the Iraqi government would issue a statement on this matter later.
This was announced that the Iraqi Foreign Ministry announced the appointment of Saudi Arabia as an ambassador in Baghdad to restore diplomatic relations between the two countries.
He said Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari told a news briefing on Tuesday: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia appointed an ambassador to Baghdad to restore full diplomatic relations for the first time since a mystery buried Iraqi President Saddam Hussein of Kuwait.
