The Ministry of Finance of Iraq, for the direct customs tariff in early June next, while confirming that the measure will support the industry and agriculture and the protection of Iraqi producer and consumer alike.
The Finance Minister Rafie al-Issawi said the ministry has identified the first of next June as the date for direct customs tariff for all goods entering Iraq, pointing out that the application of customs tariffs will be in accordance with tight controls and strict controls on the staff. Issawi said that the customs tariff to be applied will not significantly impact on the consumer in terms of higher commodity prices in local markets, and will protect producer and consumer Iraqi alike, so according to the Economic Commission representative that the activation of the law of tariffs will provide additional revenue to the state treasury can be invested in the revitalization of agricultural and industrial sectors.
